(All four in the first slot so my first four aren't the whole line~)I don't care how much grief people get for picking Bulbasaur as their favorite. I don't care one bit. This little bulby frog fellow has been my favorite since DAY ONE. Sure there are others that pop out with new generations that I may squeal over and train but...somehow I always go back to the Bulbasaur line. Once you take down the Elite Four for the first time with a Venusaur named Bulbutt...it's destiny for you to remain hooked to this guy.

I freaking LOVE THIS LOBSTER CENTIPEDE HORSE. And it's by FAR my favorite shiny. If I didn't force myself to vary my characters, I'd have nothing but Scolipedes, no joke. And I'd do what I could to get them shiny because AUGH SHINY SCOLIPEDE. And this is where you realize I pick my favorites based off of appearance and not battle prowess. Hell, if I could play the pokemon games without having to worry about training and defeating the Elite Four to progress story, I'd just run around training my pokemon and doing competitions or just exploring with them. Nintendo, get on that. But back to Scolipede. I legit want one in real life and I'm terrified of centipedes and millipedes. Though who cares about those little jerks when you could RIDE AROUND ON ONE OF THESE AUGH.

(Yes another line, I can't have these guys taking up all of my slots...)Surprisingly, I didn't pick Chikorita in Gen 2. I picked Cyndaquil! I couldn't resist that cute little face over a thumbneck with legs. (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Chikorita line too, but as a kid...it was thumbneck with legs.) Naturally every time I got a Cyndaquil I named it something like Ember, or Flare, or Cinder. Nothing quite as saucy as Bulbutt. Regardless. This guy also holds a super special place in my heart. Many a story was told to myself as I was playing of how my trainer would snuggle with their little fire bab when I saved and turned the game off.

Shuckle! It's a flipping turtle, I mean come on! Not to mention it's shiny is almost as cool as Scolipede! I think it was the fact that you got one to take care of then got to keep it that made me love it so much. That and just look at that dopey little face. Precious.

This favorite stems from actually having a Persian cat, I think! After we got my dear Butterscotch (later nicknamed Pootie) I discovered a newfound love of Persian. That and any cat pokemon, really! But Persian is way up there because of my once beloved kitty.

Okay, let's be honest. The fact that Lapras could only be found on certain days of the week and it was all alone and by itself until you came along to catch it...it broke my heart. And I fell in love with this Loch Ness monster at a very young age. Any game where someone up and gives me one, or I can obtain it...I'll most likely use it. I think it's the swirly ears and that sweet face. Just look at it~!

No love for Gloom, sorry. X'D I do also really like Bellossom, but Vileplume is where it's at. Though to be honest I think it's the derpy super old sprites of Vileplume for the Gen 1-2 games that really get me. So. Freaking. DERPY. And rafflesia are super intriguing, so a pokemon based off of one...? Yes.

No love for the middle evolution, whatever it's name is. orz I just don't like the design compared to the first and third evolution. Just as I love Shuckle for being a turtle/tortoise...I love Turtwig and Torterra for the exact same reason! Plus it has a flipping TREE growing out of it. I just really wish it changed with the seasons like Sawsbuck. Who is another favorite. Probably would end up in the 11th slot if I cared to add one. >v>;

I love Gengar. I love the fact that it might be the shadow of a Clefable. Gods I love the whole line. Can you imagine how flipping nice it must be to cuddle a Gengar? It's a smiling bean full of mischief and I love it.

Abandoned to the wilds as a child due to a plane crash, I was the sole survivor. A child abandoned on a small island. The pokemon in the are took me in, and cared for me. I was fortunate to have been born with the ability to understand and communicate with them, for no human ever found me. For years we were happy, at peace. There was plenty of food and shelter, and I constructed whatever I needed to get by out of the crash remnants with the help of my pokemon friends. As I neared my twenties, tragedy struck. We had experienced storms and hurricanes before, but this felt like the very legendaries themselves wanted to purge all the oceans of their waters. We were swept away, and it was a miracle I even survived. I washed up alone, once again, on the shores of some town. People found me and cared for me. I was taught the ways of humans again, and how they also lived and traveled with Pokemon. I grew curious of their ways, and decided to take my own Pokemon journey, something that was ripped from me due to the crash so many years ago. Still in mourning for the loss of my own dear friends, it felt as though the main, unspoken reason for my journey would be to discover new pokemon, to make new friends. This would be difficult, as before I had many, but now as a...trainer, or so they called it...I could only choose six.

For the first part of my journey, I chose to travel through an area laid dense with forests. I felt more at home here, anyways, surrounded by trees and wildlife. At first many pokemon tagged along with me, but none that wanted to permanently. The more I traveled, the more ruins I came across. Climbing over and around most of them, I was met by a most peculiar situation. Along a great wall with no visible end on either side, the one opening was blocked by a sapling. Try as a might, there was some sort of strange feeling preventing me from just going around it. So the next logical thing came to mind. Chop it down. I withdrew my machete, but had barely drawn back for the first chop when a large furry mass shoved me over. The machete clattered away as the large Pangoro loomed over me, as angry as they come. I reasoned with her, and discovered that she protected all the young trees in this area along with her fellow bears. I asked her to travel with me, to help me on my journey, and in return not a single live tree would come to harm by my hands. She agreed, and promptly helped me over the wall by throwing me, my body barely making it over. I was lucky to land in a tree that broke my fall. She climbed over shortly after, and we began our journey, both feeling somewhat forced in the other's presence. But we had overcome the first obstacle.

Shortly after beginning to travel with Leaf, I discovered that we were being followed by another pokemon. Leaf seemed to know them, but stubbornly refused to acknowledge the fact that I was aware. For a while she would refuse to let us near each other, until finally the other pokemon grew tired of the secrecy. He wanted to help us, since Leaf was his mate. I gained a new friend, one that seemed to not mind me as much as the other. Together with the two of them, setting up camp was a breeze. We traveled with the sun, and set up camp as soon as it began to get swallowed by the land. Slowly Leaf's dislike of me began to fade, and I shared many a shelter with my two large and furry pokemon, feeling very much like their adoptive child. They understood and respected my distaste for the buildings and lights from civilization, and some nights I would either be alone or with only one of them as they would sneak into these horrid towns for supplies.

It was late one night when I found my third companion. The other two had vanished into town together, to spend time alone as well, this I knew. I found myself laying on my back in a clearing, taking great pleasure in the soft moss and undergrowth we had found here. A nice fire crackled nearby, cooking a dozen or so Buneary that Leaf and Legs had caught together. While many pokemon were drawn near by the smell of food and the light, none drew close enough to be seen. The pokemon here were far more skittish around humans, it seemed. All but one. A small, injured Zubat came crawling out of the nearby bushes, somehow dragging herself by one wing. The other one appeared to be broken. I went to her and brought her close to the fire, examining the break. As I did so, the other two came back from their journey. We three began doing what we could to care for the small Zubat, managing to fix up a splint and get some food in the Zubat's belly. We carried her with us for a while, as she healed. And once she was well, she stayed, donning the name Fang. Used to one another and forming a tight pack, my entire team was flawless. Now with a night flyer, raiding towns became much easier. Despite how well they worked among each other, they still looked to me when things got difficult. With my knowledge of survival and my experience working with pokemon all my life, I always had a solution at hand. Through our travels together, I forged a strong friendship with Fang, just as I had with the other two, and she eventually evolved from Zubat, to Golbat, then finally Crobat.
Over time, you find you work best with and mostly train:

male, OrbThe further our travels seemed to take us, the wider the variety of pokemon we ran into. Sadly most to none of them seemed interested in travels with a human, save for a few. Wing, we ran into in a field where his species called home. He seemed bored with their mundane life, and was eager to come along with us. Our next teammate was acquired through Leaf. In a way, at least. While Leaf stayed up keeping watch one night, she caught a Malamar sneaking up to our camp with the intent of robbing us of our provisions. I awoke to Leaf pinning down the hungry, desperate pokemon who was begging for mercy. I asked Leaf to let them go if they agreed to leave and not come back. She agreed, but was lying. For a while she followed us from a distance. When she realized we worked together as a team to hunt and obtain food, she drew in close again. It was almost as though she would rather rip her own tentacles out than ask, but she wanted to become part of our team. At least for a while, so she could learn to hunt better. As it turned out, she had been a trainer's pokemon all her life, but they had released her after evolving. We agreed, but only after giving her the knowledge that Leaf would be watching her...and that I promised to never abandon her. Knowing that my final team spot was needing to be filled, my instincts directed us into an area full of ruins, much like the first place I found Leaf. This was different though. While the first ruins seemed to have been erected to celebrate the forest, these looked as though they were erected to worship fell beasts with wings that spewed fire. It was there that we found Orb. He was the only one left, and he explained that many a trainer had come here after one discovered their nest, effectively wiping out his entire clan. He had been training alone, fighting any trainer that crossed his path, for he found them all dull of heart and annoying. Though he was impressed that my group was so closely knit, and that I could hold conversation with pokemon. He joined, simply to observe us. But he, too, would stay and grow with the rest of us.

female, CombAfter some time, we came across an area of forest overlaid with Combee hives. We were able to talk one of the hives into sparing some honey for us, as the sweet and golden substance was an excellent aid for sore throats. We stayed with them for a while, content with the sounds of their home. Buzzing, insect calls, and chirps filled the air from the wildlife congregating around us. Wing grew fascinated with this area of the forest, especially with how well this species lived, and he left us. Saddened, but happy for him, I looked to the hives to fill the hole he left in our team. One of the older hive queens with few Combee tending to her offered to come along. Her Combee would be better off serving a newer queen with more power anyways. And so the old soul, Comb, came along in place of Wing.
Another evolution occurs:

While unable to physically evolve again, Fang furthered her ability to fly more supplies to and from towns.

Not only was our merry band of misfits growing closer and more like a family, but they became fiercely protective of me. Despite everything, like the fact that they could kill me with one blow, they trusted me. Followed me. Put their faith in me. I brought them together and helped them to see what they were made of. At every turn, every mishap with anyone or thing, they came to my aid. While I refused the use of pokeballs, they behaved as though they had been linked to me by them. With all six large and intimidating pokemon by my side, we traveled well through the wilderness. The newer members grew to love and accept this side of nature, the unruly forests laden with mystery to the wild and gnarled mountains. No one complained that I refused to go into towns. And before long, none of us entered them unless absolutely necessary. We had much luck now in this region. The very woods were heavy with game and fruits to engorge ourselves on. We had absolutely no agenda, and no plan for ourselves. Eventually, I thought, we would find somewhere to settle, but for now, we were content to wander. Towards the end of our journey, we were blessed with my final partner evolving, all thanks to a very unruly and wild Stantler. It was a prideful and angry beast, but we needed the meat. None of us could subdue it, and it put up a mighty fight before I was even able to loose an arrow into its side. We crashed through the forest after the injured and adrenaline filled deer, before finally Orb dealt the final blow. Before our very eyes, the serpentine dragon evolved, becoming a much bulkier, more able bodied beast. It was then that he had enough proof of my worth to declare a lasting allegiance with me and my team.

Beak, the one pokemon of mine that remained a constant thorn in our sides with her stiff attitude towards the lot of us, she finally came around. Unable to physically evolve, she evolved in a more mental and emotional fashion. She slowly had become less of a prude and even grew so far as to consider us her adopted family, accepting me at the head. Satisfied and overjoyed that my full team trusted me, I was at peace. Now I was certain that we needed some place to settle down and thrive, just the seven of us. As luck would have it, we ran into an abandoned house, swiftly choosing it to make camp in for the night. If things went well, we may stay around to call it our own home. Despite the fact that it gave us a strange feeling, even in daylight, we set up our sleeping arrangements. How wrong we are to ignore this. That very night we were woken up by a horde of ghost pokemon, intent on running us out, but not before having a bit of fun with us. They were almost worse than the Stantler, constantly avoiding my pokemon's attempts at keeping them away. We were all hit with Hypnosis at one point. It was a deep restless slumber, and at one point I found myself hovering above my own body, looking down at it. The deathly pallor to my skin was terrifying enough to make it actually happen. We all jolted awake, promptly grabbed camp in a helter skelter mess, and exited the house. Despite my hatred of traveling at night, we made it a few miles away before collapsing where we ended up, sleeping in the open.
The hardest trial you ever faced was:
1) Fighting your rival to become Champion.
2) Realizing just how much you have to walk and still sticking out this whole journey thing.
3) Being lost for weeks.
4) Assisting in taking down a criminal organization.
5) Losing a Pokémon. (NOOOOOO. I KNEW MY LUCK WOULD RUN OUT.)
6) Realizing there are way too many Pokémon to ever catch ‘em all.

It was too soon. Too soon after her acceptance, too soon after we finally became a family. It was supposed to be another hunt, another routine thing in our lives. We didn't know it would be her last. I lost track of how long I held her limp form, slowly growing as cold as ice in my trembling arms, a hand stroking her head tentacles. Her beak was pressed sharply into my chest, cutting into my skin, but I didn't care. I would take a thousand stab wounds from anything and everything to bring her back. To tell her I was sorry. To beg for her forgiveness for abandoning her like this. All I wanted was to give her a better life, a better chance. It still wrenched my heart to see that final smile on her face, the croaked word of thank you, her tentacle to my cheek, reassuring me, trying to persuade me not to feel guilty...before it too fell limp by her side. We buried her deep beneath the mixture of earth and sand near a lake in the woods. The game that killed her, an Escavalier, we cremated. Like an offering to old gods, we hoped it gave her one final meal before her soul left this earth. I carried this loss with me, as did the rest of my team, for many miles. We trekked back to Wing, giving him the news. Afterwards, we made our way back to her grave, stopping only to pray for her and ourselves before continuing on. This loss seemed to have brought myself and Leaf, if possible, even closer. I was amazed at how she hated me at first, but we had now grown as close as any trainer could with their pokemon. I was grateful to her, and cried on her many of the first nights after the loss of Beak.
We decided that a change of scenery would better help us recover. A change of pace was needed as well. We found ourselves on the islands littering the Hoenn region, taking refuge in the solidarity they offered. It calmed my heart to be near the ocean again. While we picked one to call home, building a structure for our home, we never stopped exploring them.
